Some questions are rhetorical and others demand an answer!

The ongoing and lively discussion amongst smallholders about what breed is the best pig for smallholding needed a better answer than the usual one: ‘whatever one you like/ can get’.

We needed more information and gathering micro-scale pig owners and pig-interested pork eaters seemed a good place to start. The information we gathered was priceless and getting a hands-on feel for the breeds and different ages gave us the ‘picture’ we were looking for. Each person there had questions that were answered and we could take away the bits of information that suited our individual and diverse situations.

It has to be said that alongside all this learning, there was so much fun, friendship and good food.
